City have completed the signing of highly-rated Hakeeb Adelakun.
The club has fought off competition from a host of Premier League and Championship clubs for the 22-year-old’s signature, who has penned a three-year deal in BS3, with the option of a further 12 months.
Adelakun arrives at Ashton Gate as a free agent after his contract expired at Scunthorpe United.
Head coach Lee Johnson told bcfc.co.uk: “Hakeeb is an exciting prospect, one I’m looking forward to working with.
“We have made numerous signings of his ilk, with various levels of success, but in my opinion he has the potential to replicate the form displayed by Albert Adomah and Yannick Bolasie.
“If everything is aligned and his attitude is as we expect, he will go on to have a career in the top flight because he certainly has the talent.”
The London-born attacker had youth spells at Crystal Palace and West Ham before joining Scunthorpe in 2012 after a successful trial.
He made his Football League debut later that year, becoming the Iron’s youngest player.
Adelakun made a total of 169 appearances at Glandford Park, scoring 20 times.
