It's been seven long years since City and Plymouth Argyle have done battle.
The two teams have been drawn together in the first round of this season's Carabao Cup competition, with the tie to be played at Ashton Gate in the week commencing Monday, August 7th.
Only once before have the two sides met in the League Cup, way back in January 1972 when Plymouth secured a first round 1-0 win through Jimmy Hinch's solitary goal.
The last meeting between the two sides at Ashton Gate was in October 2009, as goals from Danny Haynes, Jamie McCombe and Nicky Maynard gave Gary Johnson's side a 3-1 win.
All four goals in that Championship contest came in seven second-half minutes (73, 75, 76, 79).
The next encounter - the last meeting between the sides - came in March 2010, a fixture which proved to be Johnson's last in charge.
Nicky Maynard scored twice to cancel out first-half strikes from Chris Clark and Bradley Wright-Phillips. However, after Jamal Campbell-Ryce had been red-carded, Carl Fletcher struck a stoppage-time winner.
City hold a narrow advantage over the Pilgrims in the all-time standings, with 24 wins to 22.
