📢 City take up Bakinson option

City have triggered a one-year extension on Tyreeq Bakinson’s contract, tying him to the club until June 2023.

Bakinson marked his 50th appearance for the Robins with the goal in the 1-0 midweek over Stoke City.

The midfielder, who signed a new three-year contract in May 2019, joined City’s development group from Luton Town on transfer deadline day in August 2017

City Manager Nigel Pearson told Robins TV: “Tyreeq will develop as far as he wants to because he has got the tools and I am pleased that he is starting to perform in a way we need him to as a team – that’s the key.

“He is a player who gives us a different skillset to some of the other players we have got and is a talented player for sure but he is not the finished article.

“Tyreeq has an eye for a goal too, which is important, and I’m pleased that we have extended his contract and he is happy to be here.”
