City return to Carabao Cup action off the back of a solid start to their 2018/19 season.
Assistant head coach Jamie McAllister says City's dominant showings in their first two league games has bred confidence within the camp.
They earned a good opening day point against Nottingham Forest, before fighting from 2-0 down to grab a more-than-deserved point on the road at Bolton.
Andreas Weimann halved the deficit at the weekend with his second goal in as many games, before Jamie Paterson's strike in the last ten minutes.
City host Plymouth Argyle in the first round of the cup on Tuesday night (August 14th, 7.45pm) - their first match of the competition since reaching the semi-finals as part of last year's magical run.
"We go into the game full of confidence," McAllister told bcfc.co.uk.
"The performance on Saturday [v Bolton] was outstanding. We dominated against a team that had just beaten West Brom away.
"We had nearly 70 per cent possession during the game but just couldn’t get that first goal to kill them off. But the lads showed great character away from home and we should have won the game because we had chances at 2-2."
He added: "We’re seeing the first round of Saturday-Tuesday matches and it’s demanding. It’s a quick turnaround but the lads recover well.
"We make sure the lads are fully recovered. We have a squad big enough to deal with these challenges."
McAllister says there remain a few niggles in the City camp although Taylor Moore and Jens Hegeler are closest to making returns.
"Bails (Bailey Wright) is getting there. He’s progressing," he said.
"Jens trained in the last few days. He’s getting there and Taylor has started running today.
"It will take time, maybe another week or two, maybe longer for some."
Tickets remain on sale for Tuesday's first round encounter with the Pilgrims, which is not being broadcast live on Sky Sports.
