Bristol City have signed left-back Jay Dasilva on a season-long loan from Chelsea.
The three-time FA Youth Cup winner has been tipped as a promising, physical young English defender, who in the last two seasons has gained experience in League One with Charlton Athletic.
The Chelsea loanee becomes City's eighth recruit of the summer window, having completed the formalities on his deal in BS3 today (Thursday, August 9th).
Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson told bcfc.co.uk: “I am very excited about what Jay will bring to the squad. He has already achieved a lot for such a young player and we believe in his ability to step up again in what is a tough and increasingly competitive league."
Twenty-year-old Dasilva, who entered the Chelsea Academy aged 13 when he left his hometown club Luton Town, scored in the FA Youth Cup final first leg against Fulham in 2014, as he clinched his first of three consecutive cup wins with the Chelsea Reserves.
He also played his role in two UEFA Youth League triumphs with his parent club, before he earned his first loan move to Charlton Athletic midway through the 2016/17 season.
Already an England youth international, having made his debut at Under-16 level, Dasilva added the 2017 UEFA European Under-19 Championship to his football CV as he captained the young Lions to a 2-1 victory over Portugal in the final.
Dasilva then rejoined the Addicks on loan for the 2017/18 campaign, going on to make 44 appearances as he helped Charlton Athletic reach the League One play-offs. He went on to earn the Fans’ Player of the Year award.
Despite being reduced to 12 men in the closing stages of the match, England U20 held on to beat France 29-20 in round two of the Six Nations Summer Series.
