City have been awarded the LG Performance of the Week Award by the League Managers Association’s panel for the 3-2 victory over Sheffield United.
Comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle and Dave Bassett, the panel has determined that the LG Performance of the Week Award should go to City for their win at Bramall Lane.
The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 5,500 competitive matches in professional football.
Head Coach Lee Johnson received a celebratory bottle of champagne, courtesy of Tanners Wines, and an LG Performance of the Week trophy in a presentation to commemorate the victory which saw a hat-trick from Andreas Weimann.
City twice fought from behind thanks to the on-target Austrian, with Blades captain Billy Sharp heading the hosts into an early lead at the sun-soaked Bramall Lane.
Weimann levelled the tie with a looping header and Josh Brownhill’s second-half free kick struck the post before Scott Hogan restored the Blades’ lead.
However, City were level again when Kasey Palmer picked out the run of Weimann and the forward completed the scores with a calm finish seven minutes from the end of regular time.
