City Players Support QEH Football Festival

City’s players took time out from their schedule to support QEH Junior School’s football festival at the club’s training base this week.

With eight schools registered, the seven-a-side tournament saw upwards of 100 youngsters in attendance, celebrating the school’s tenth anniversary. 

Lee Johnson’s squad attended the celebration, posing for photos, signing autographs and encouraging participants from the sidelines.  

Martin Morris, QEH Junior School headmaster, said: “It was a real festival of football for schools around Bristol. 

“We are currently celebrating the Junior School’s tenth anniversary and we thought what better way of doing that by involving Bristol City – who we have a special link with – and involving local primary schools in a fun afternoon of football. 

“Even at my age I enjoy meeting the stars and professional football players, but for our students to meet some real life heroes who they see week on week on the TV or at Ashton Gate is tremendous, and, hopefully it is hugely inspiring for them.” 

QEH Juniors A overcame Colston’s Primary to reach the final on home soil, and they met Elmlea Juniors, who had to battle past Westbury-on-Trym CofE Academy in a local derby. 

The final itself ended in a draw, with QEH Juniors A and Elmlea agreeing to share the trophy – rather than go through the pressures of penalties at such a young age!
