City loanees on fire with goals

City’s on-loan players were on song in the Football League this weekend.

Sammie Szmodics made the EFL Team of the Week after he scored two for Peterborough United in a 4-1 win to promotion rivals Ipswich Town, taking his tally to four goals in his last three appearances.

Liam Walsh (pictured) helped Coventry City make it 10 games unbeaten, netting the winner in a 2-1 victory against Bristol Rovers when he picked out the top corner.

Jonny Smith bagged his ninth goal of season for Oldham Athletic against Bradford City, to add to his seven assists, while Tyreeq Bakinson scored the winner for Plymouth Argyle in a 1-0 home win over Newport County. Argyle have won four and drawn one in the five games Bakinson has featured.

Alongside Famara Diédhiou for City at QPR, these were six men of the match voted by the League Paper, including Joe Morrell, who continues his fine form for Lincoln City with a man-of-the-match display in the 2-1 reverse to Southend United.
