City fans support students in need

Thanks to the generosity of City supporters the Robins Foundation are proud to be assisting young people with their home schooling by providing laptops and tablets to vulnerable students.

With the latest government restrictions to curb the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic requiring schools to shut their doors to all but the children of key workers and those in care, students across the country are continuing their educations from home with the help of digital learning.

However, for those less fortunate who do not possess laptops or tablet devices, taking part in home schooling and online learning presents a real challenge.

An estimated 1 in 10 families in the UK do not have a laptop, desktop or tablet device at home.

That is where Bristol City Robins Foundation’s laptop donation and distribution scheme comes in. The scheme aims to provide the technical devices to young people who would otherwise not have access to online and digital learning.

Thanks to the Foundation’s in depth understanding of the local community and network of deep-rooted relationships of trust with young people across Bristol, City’s official charity have been able to identify young people who would otherwise fall through the cracks and not receive the support needed to continue on their learning journeys.

The Foundation is pleased to have made the first delivery of devices to those in need and will continue to distribute further equipment over the coming weeks.

The scheme is part of a wider effort carried out by the Foundation to support those most in need in the community. In partnership with FareShare South West, City’s official charity are continuing to make weekly deliveries of food supplies to vulnerable families across Bristol and the Foundation’s education department has delivered more than 30 laptops to disadvantaged students to enable them to access online learning.
