City Face Wycombe In EFL Cup

Bristol City will travel to Sky Bet League Two side Wycombe Wanderers in the first round of the EFL Cup.

Lee Johnson’s side were seeded in the south side of the draw, which took place live on Facebook this afternoon.

The match is likely to take place on Tuesday, August 9th (7.45pm), unless selected for live television coverage.

City’s last visit to Adams Park came in 2013 when the hosts ran out 2-1 winners in a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy second round tie.

Head coach Johnson said: “It’s another interesting game to complete our August fixture list. The EFL Cup is a good competition and one we want to progress in when it comes around.”

Round One of the renamed cup competition includes 70 of the 72 EFL clubs this season, with Newcastle United and Norwich City handed byes.

Manchester City are the current holders of the EFL Cup, having beaten Liverpool in last season’s final in February. The 2016/17 EFL Cup Final, the 57th in the competition’s history, will take place at Wembley on Sunday, February 26th 2017.
