Callum O’Dowda and Lloyd Kelly were both in attendance at the EFL Kids Cup yesterday, delivered by Bristol City Community Trust at South Bristol Sports Centre.
The pair took time out of their schedule to watch the knockout tournament - comprising of 14 teams from 11 local primary schools - while posing for photos and signing autographs.
The final saw Luckwell A go head to head with West Town Lane, which O’Dowda and Kelly commentated on via Facebook Live, with the latter running out 4-1 winners.
West Town Lane will now advance into the regional finals in Reading, where they will represent the club as they attempt to reach the national final, which will be played at Wembley Stadium ahead of the Sky Bet Championship play-off final.
James Howiantz, the programme coordinator, said: “To host the preliminary round of the EFL Kids Cup is a huge compliment to the work delivered by the Trust and the facilities on offer at South Bristol Sports Centre.
“It was a fantastic day and to have 14 teams competing was tremendous. There was a huge amount of talent on display and everyone should be proud of their efforts.
“The event was a real success with the players and staff embracing the competitive but fair attitude the Community Trust staff were trying to encourage.
“I would like to place on record my thanks to Callum and Lloyd for visiting the tournament. Their attendance enhanced the atmosphere and the participants really enjoyed getting to meet their idols.
“Congratulations to West Town Lane on lifting the trophy - we wish them the best of luck in the upcoming rounds.”
