Webster flying high after road trip

Bristol City are taking confidence after picking up maximum points on the road against two promotion-chasing opponents.

Those were the thoughts of Adam Webster after the centre-back netted the winner against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.

His header was the vital goal as City took all three points at the Riverside Stadium, just three days after an emphatic 3-2 victory at Sheffield United.

The win against Tony Pulis’ side sent City up to fifth in the Sky Bet Championship.

“We showed great character, defended for our lives and we could have been out of sight,” match-winner Webster told BCTV.

“We had good chances on the break and on another night we could have had four or five goals. They (Middlesbrough) are a good side, they will have chances at times but we road our luck, thankfully got the clean sheet and the win.

“We are full of confidence from the Sheffield United win. Nobody expected us to beat them away from home but we’ve been there, done that and it was the same on Tuesday night. We defended for our lives and got the win.”

City return to Ashton Gate where they host Wigan Athletic on Saturday (April 6th, 3pm KO).

It’s the first of just four remaining home games before the 2018/19 season ends and Webster is looking forward to returning home.

The defender added: “We have a big game on Saturday. We have to relish it, it’s another tough game but we will recover now and we go again on Saturday.”
