Bristol City are aiming to tie up the permanent signing of Cameroon striker Arnold Garita from French club Chateauroux.
The 20-year-old is on the verge of completing the £50,000 switch, as City await international clearance and the final paperwork to be processed by the authorities.
Manager Steve Cotterill has revealed the 6ft 1in forward will train with the first team, whilst playing on a regular basis for the Under-21s.
However, he’ll travel with the first team for matches and – subject to clearance – could be in the squad as City visit Premier League side West Brom in the FA Cup third round this Saturday (January 9th).
“We had 'Arnie' on trial for two weeks back in November and liked what we saw,” Cotterill told bcfc.co.uk.
“He’s a £50,000 punt. He’s big, powerful, raw, hungry and plays with a smile on his face. There’s just something about him.”
Garita has only ever played for Chateauroux, with whom he scored nine times in 34 outings. The majority of his career has been spent in the French Ligue 2, the same division City plucked Jonathan Kodjia from in the summer.
