Wes Burns has received his first full international call-up for Wales’ all-important doubleheader of 2016 UEFA European Championship qualifiers against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Andorra.
The 20-year-old was originally selected in the Wales Under-21 squad, but now replaces the injured former City winger David Cotterill in the full squad.
Burns has been prolific for the Under-21s with five goals in 12 appearances, form which has clearly caught the eye of national boss Chris Coleman.
Wales stand on the brink of qualification for the European Championships, sitting top of Group B with 18 points from eight games.
They require just one point from their remaining matches against Bosnia-Herzegovina (away, October 10th) and Andorra (home, October 13th) to book their place in France next summer.
Burns told bcfc.co.uk: “It’s a very proud moment for me, especially for such an important doubleheader of matches.
“This is a chance for Wales to make history and I’m honoured to be a part of it.”
Pat Lam was full of praise for a rocking atmosphere at Ashton Gate as Bears secured a bonus point victory.
