Han-Noah Massengo says he has been putting the extra shifts in as he looks back on how he has adjusted to English football.
Massengo joined City at the start of the 2019/20 campaign and quickly caught the attention of supporters.
Having played in the UEFA Champions League and being part of the France youth setup, his potential has been clear to see.
The midfielder, now into his second season with the Robins, admitted he’s been working hard since signing, while getting accustomed to a different style of football in the Sky Bet Championship.
For Massengo, he particularly noticed “the intensity, the challenges, there are a lot of goals – that’s what I expected.”
To get used to that he has been working with City’s Head of Strength and Conditioning Derrick Bonsu on a programme to help him bulk up which has seen him put on 8kg.
“I’m discovering what I can do with my new body,” said Massengo. “I have weights, a Desmotec machine, there’s a lot of core work, lifting weights to get stronger. At first it was about my upper body but now it’s more about my legs getting stronger.”
He’s made 11 appearances this season, one of those off the bench against Portsmouth in the Emirates FA Cup Third Round. He helped City beat Pompey 2-1 to take on Millwall on Saturday, and he’s hoping for more minutes in the tank this weekend in a competition he is excited about.
“I played in the FA Cup last year, so I know what it is. It’s big here and people talk about it, that’s why people love to watch it because anyone can beat anyone and a smaller club can beat a Premier League club.
“I’d like to play, I want to play every game but of course the Gaffer has his choices and I just have to be ready for when he calls me, so I’m ready!”
Millwall versus City will be available to watch on BT Sport Extra 6.
