Brunt praise as City bounce back

Chris Brunt marked his first City league start with a penalty-winning free-kick and was pleased with how his team-mates ‘dug in’ to earn the draw.

Brunt’s 84th-minute floated set-piece from his famed left foot saw Antoine Semenyo go to ground under Connor Roberts' challenge, and referee Oliver Langford pointed to the spot.

Nahki Wells converted for his third goal of the season and gave the Robins a share of the points to keep them second in the Sky Bet Championship.

City had fallen behind to a 51st-minute Jamal Lowe goal but Dean Holden threw on his strikers – with four on the pitch at one stage –  to put his side back into the game.

Brunt, who stepped in for Tyreeq Bakinson, gave his immediate off-field reaction to Robins TV, saying: “It wasn’t a great game and there weren’t many chances but when you go a goal behind it’s always important to get yourselves back into it.

“After Tuesday (Middlesbrough) it was important to bounce back after a poor performance that we got a result and fair to the lads they dug in well.

“I’m not sure what the script was with the penalty but those things probably sort themselves out during the season so we’ll take that and move on. It’s been a tough week for us but we need to keep plugging away.”

The Robins travel to the Vitality Stadium on the south coast to face AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday night (October 28th, 7.45pm) with the match available on Robins TV for £10.
