With 2014 marking the 100th anniversary since the outbreak of the First World War, The Royal British Legion is asking people to not just mark the memory of the fallen, but to focus also on the future of the living.
Bristol Sport is backing the British Legion’s Poppy Day Appeal.
Representatives from our stable of sports gathered together to mark the launch of this most poignant of years including, Bristol City captain Wade Elliott; defender Mark Little and Bristol City director of football, Keith Burt. Alongside them, Bristol Rugby’s director of rugby Andy Robinson; first team players Mark Sorenson and Mitch Eadie. Also in attendance were Bristol City Community Trust; Bristol Rugby Community Foundation, Bristol Flyers captain Greg Streete, Roy Owen and Coach Kapoulas; Olympic GB captain and Bristol Central water polo captain Craig Figes with teammate John Sissons; racing car driver Dino Zamparelli and Bristol Rugby Ladies’ Heidi Chapman-Mercer alongside military personnel.
We hope you can join us for Bristol City’s Remembrance Day Match against AFC Wimbledon in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, Tuesday, November 11th, KO 19:45hrs. The Royal Tank Regiment will provide a guard of honour at Ashton Gate. There will also be a special service with Bristol Rugby’s Former Players’ Association at the Memorial Ground at 11am on Tuesday, November 11th.
