City will be represented by their officially affiliated LGBT+ football team - the Bristol City Panthers - at Bristol’s annual pride event for the first time in the club’s history this weekend.
The Bristol City Panthers enjoyed an extremely successful debut season in the GFSN league which saw the side achieve promotion to the top tier of the national LGBT football league.
The season was also a historical one for the club as they became one of the very first LGBT football teams in the country to form an official affiliation with a professional team.
The Panthers will this weekend continue to make history when they are set to represent Bristol City FC at Pride for the first time in the club’s history.
Chief Executive Officer of the Bristol City Robins Foundation Dan White commented: “We are very proud to be taking part in the Bristol Pride event for the first time this year celebrating the work of our partner club, Bristol City Panthers.
“We hope joining forces with them at pride will help to demonstrate the inclusive environment we’re creating at Bristol City Football club, which welcomes everyone no matter their background.
“At the Trust we are committed to tackling discrimination and promoting inclusion, and the Panthers are a great example of how we are able to achieve this.”
With just a few days to go until Elton John plays at Ashton Gate, concert-goers are urged to take advantage of special event Shuttle Buses laid on to help get fans to and from the stadium.
