Bristol City Women’s FC confirm Scottish International Weir will be leaving the club to join Liverpool Ladies.
Weir joined The Vixens in July 2015 from Arsenal Ladies and immediately became an integral part of the squad and a fan favourite, scoring 6 goals in 13 appearances. However, since the season ended in October Caroline has had a lot of interest from WSL1 clubs and has signed for Liverpool Ladies for the 2016 season.
Manager Willie Kirk commented: “I would personally like to wish Caroline the best of luck with her move to Liverpool. I’ve known her since she was 13 and coached her at various periods during that time, and it was great to work with her again after we signed her from Arsenal last summer.
“Without a doubt, she would have stayed at Bristol had we stayed up in WSL1, but, the player and the club have moved on now and I’m hoping that both have successful seasons this year. Although she wasn’t at the club for long, I am sure that she will be remembered by Bristol fans for years to come as she showed many flashes of genius during her time here.”
Caroline leaves the club with everyone’s best wishes and will be warmly welcomed back to the club whenever she graces the pitch at The Stoke Gifford Stadium.
