Bristol City Women Apprenticeship Opportunity

Bristol City Women are in search of a Marketing Apprentice. 

The Marketing Apprentice will be responsible for the day to day implementation of the Club’s marketing plan with the main objective of raising attendances on match days. The Marketing Apprentice will be a part of the Marketing and Media Team at Bristol Sport.

  • To ensure the club’s website and social media accounts are kept up to date with relevant content including covering matches live on Twitter
  • To prepare website articles and media communications
  • To assist the Media Manager in filming and editing digital video content and creating images for the social media channels
  • To assist the General Manager in planning an engaging programme of pre-match events e.g. tournaments, football festivals, kids’ activities etc.
  • To attend all home matches and assist the General Manager in delivering the match day experience for fans
  • To conduct research with fans to gain insight into their match day experiences and motivations. Use these insights to drive the marketing strategy.
  • To coordinate the production of the match day programme
  • To liaise with Gloucester FA and local schools to raise the profile of the club in the local community
  • To liaise with stakeholders and players to organise community player appearances
  • To liaise with local press to promote matches and increase coverage of the Club in the local media
  • To assist the Head of Marketing with the production of the Marketing Plan and strategy
  • To use own initiative to suggest improvements to match day experience and attendance
  • To attend all relevant WSL meetings

Desired skills

  • A passion for sport
  • An interest in media and marketing
  • Open to travel and working weekends and week-nights (mainly to attend football matches)
  • Organised and able to meet strict deadlines
  • Able to work on own initiative;
  • Confident communicator

Personal qualities

  • Demonstrated marketing experience and/or marketing qualification
  • An interest in women’s football and enthusiastic about developing women’s football at this exciting time

Qualifications required

GCSE Grades A*-C (or equivalent) in Maths, English Language and knowledge or use of ICT preferred.

Future prospects

On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will have gained skills and experience to progress in the Marketing sector. There may be an opportunity to progress internally.

Things to consider

The hours will include some unsocial hours, covering games in the evening and weekends. Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
