Bristol City Midfielder up for League One Player of the Year

Luke Freeman has been shortlisted for Sky Bet’s League One Player of the Year award.

The City attacker is on a three-man shortlist for the honour, up against MK Dons’ Dele Alli and Joe Garner from promotion rivals Preston North End.

The awards have been voted for by managers of the clubs in each division.

The Football League Awards will be held on Sunday (April 19th) at The Brewery, London.

It’s a chance to celebrate on and off pitch excellence across The League's 72 clubs, rewarding players, clubs and fans.

To tie in with the tenth anniversary, this year there are a total of ten categories.

Other categories include the Family Club of the Year, Johnstone’s Paint Community Club of the Year, PFA Player in the Community, Capital One Supporter of the Year, the Mitre Goal of the Year, LFE Apprentice of the Year and the Sir Tom Finney Award.

What the judges say about Freeman:

“Luke has been a standout player in a standout side this season, playing a major part in Bristol City’s promotion from Sky Bet League One.

“Signed from Stevenage in the summer, the forward is the playmaker of the side and has established himself as a fans' favourite at Ashton Gate.

“Luke is the go-to man for assists, and his creativity and expertise from set pieces have been evident for the Robins throughout the campaign.”
