Tammy Abraham is preparing to make an emotional farewell to Ashton Gate on Sunday and admits: “Bristol City will always hold a special place in my heart.”
The 19-year-old will finish the campaign as the club’s top scorer, having netted 26 times to date, with just Sunday’s home clash with Birmingham City left to play (kick-off midday).
Abraham is arguably City’s most successful loanee and the Chelsea forward is sure to have plenty of suitors in the summer, should an opportunity at Stamford Bridge not be forthcoming.
Regardless, the striker’s sole focus at present is on his final outing in a City shirt and saying thank you to the supporters.
He told Bristol City Player HD: “It’s been an amazing season for me and Bristol City will always hold a special place in my heart now.
“This club has given me my first chance to express myself and show what I can do.
“I don’t know what the future holds, so this weekend I’ll say goodbye to the fans. They’ve been brilliant to me; they’ve made me feel like family.
“I’ve enjoyed living by myself in the past nine months. I was used to my mum’s cooking before – my cooking is still rubbish!
“It’s my dream to go as far as I can in my career. I’ll keep working hard – this is just the start.”
He added: “When I first came here, knowing it was Championship football, playing against experienced men, I knew it would be tough. You’d be hard pressed to find players as tall as me at Academy level but that all changed when I came here.
“I had to adapt some parts of my game. I feel like I’ve learnt so much here. You see how much winning and losing games matters.
“We’re showing everyone where we should be now on the back of this good run and now the club needs to take that into the start of next season.”
