Bristol Women’s Football Casual League, Gloucestershire FA and Bristol Academy will be holding a 7 a-side Women’s football tournament at SGS College WISE campus this Saturday, June 13th.
Inspired by the Women's World Cup taking place in Canada, the tournament will run from 5pm-8pm before England kick-off their second game of the Women’s World Cup against Mexico at 9pm.
Players from the Bristol Academy WFC first team squad will be attending the event from 5pm-5.30pm to support the players and meet the coaches before heading for training themselves.
Bristol Academy Head Coach, Willie Kirk said:
“Bristol Academy are delighted to support Saturday’s event. We want to encourage as many females as possible to play football regardless of age or ability.
"We hope that our own first team players as role models coming along to these events, can encourage participation numbers and inspire players to play, enjoy and improve.
"The World Cup that is taking place now in Canada is a fantastic opportunity for everyone in this country to help grow the game and use what we are seeing on our television’s every day during these four weeks to encourage more females to start playing the game.”
Bristol Academy are next in action away to Chelsea in the WSL on Sunday, July 12th - view all of their fixtures on our What's On page here.
