Brighton Will Go Up - Johnson

Lee Johnson is convinced Brighton & Hove Albion will be a Premier League team next season.

The head coach admitted Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to the Seagulls proved City still have work to do if they are to sustain a promotion push.

The result leaves Brighton just behind red-hot Sky Bet Championship favourites Newcastle United with a five-point cushion to the play-off pack.

“There’s no doubt they’ll be promoted,” said Johnson.

“We watched five or six of their games in the build-up. Last week they beat Norwich 5-0, who are a very good side.

“They’re a strong side who remind me a bit of Hull from last year – they tick all the boxes for the division.

“They’ve got height, speed, experience, athleticism and finishing prowess.

“This is why we say we need three transfer windows – we probably need to stick to that.

“In the meantime, there’s still three or four spots in the play-offs that we’ve got to do our very best to fight for.

“Norwich are a good side and Huddersfield are having a good season, but we’re in that pack of eight or nine clubs.

“We’ve got to keep going and not get too despondent if we lose. We’ve got to bounce back and work really hard because we’ve got two tough games coming up this month.”
