Filip Benković looks back on his first days at Bristol City.
The defender arrived on loan from Leicester City on deadline day and is in line to make his debut against Birmingham City this Friday night at Ashton Gate.
It would come exactly one week since his signing and Benković says he has been working hard for when his opportunity arises.
The Croatian has promotion on his mind too and speaks of the importance of every point up for grabs between now and the end of the season.
“The first few days at Bristol City have been really good and everything is going very well,” he said. “We trained hard in the last couple of days with double sessions and I met the team and staff and I am looking forward to the days ahead.
“It would be great to make my debut at home especially on Friday night but it is the head coach’s (Lee Johnson) decision to pick his first XI and for my stage, it is important to be ready when the opportunity comes.
“I train hard every day as we did this week and I can’t wait to get started with the team, to play games and take on these new challenges.”
He added: “I really can’t wait to play with them and of course the club wants to get promoted this year. Of course it won’t be easy but for sure we won’t give up in these last 16 games and we will play each game like it is the last one."
Benković would join a defensive unit which has kept four clean sheets in a row in the Sky Bet Championship and the Scottish Premiership winner with Celtic knows that form can go along way.
He continued: “That’s very good because clubs want to be promoted this year and when you get results like we have, it is important. I’m really glad the team is doing well and let’s hope that we continue to play like that and make the fans happy and proud.”
City v Birmingham kicks off at 7.45pm on Friday.
