City Under-23s attacking midfielder Ayman Benarous has signed a professional contract with his boyhood club.
The 17-year-old joined the Robins as a schoolboy before progressing through the Bristol City FC Academy age groups to become a regular in the development squad.
He also helped City’s Under-18s beat Nottingham Forest in this season’s FA Youth Cup, grabbing an assist in the 2-1 win and has represented England at Under-17 level.
Benarous is Bristol-born and follows in the footsteps of Max O’Leary, Zak Vyner, Bobby Reid, Joe Bryan and Lloyd Kelly in turning professional with the Robins.
Academy Manager Gary Probert said: “We’re delighted for Ayman to sign his first professional deal with us and it’s a very proud moment for both him and his family.
“Not only is he technically gifted but he has a wonderful personality and a determined mindset. We’re all very excited for his future and I look forward to seeing his continued development.”
Player Pathway Manager Brian Tinnion said: “We are all very proud of what Ayman has achieved and it is brilliant to see him sign professionally with Bristol City. I’ve watched him with the Under-18s and Under-23s on a regular basis and he has the attributes to go far. Ayman has a lot of hard work ahead of him but he knows this and we can’t wait to see what’s next.”
