Bell strikes twice for Young Robins

Two goals from Sam Bell and a third from Louis Britton sealed City Under-23s a 3-0 Professional Development League win against Wigan Athletic.

Bell scored after 31 minutes when a diagonal ball from Ryler Towler found Sam Pearson, who crossed for the striker to score.

Eight minutes later Bell grabbed his second when he got on the end of James Morton’s cross for the young Robins to take a two goal advantage into the break.

Saikou Janneh had a shot saved early into the second half before Britton – a 15th- minute replacement for Tommy Conway – pounced on a back pass to extend the lead.

That's now two wins from two for the development group and their next test comes against Hull City on September 1st (1pm KO).

City Under-23s: Wiles-Richards, Taylor, Moore (capt), Towler, Pearson (Soady 70), Owers (Porton 67), Morton, Janneh, Benarous, Conway (Britton 15), Bell. Subs (not used): Boyd, Kadji.
