Bell signs three-year deal

Bristol City Football Club Academy graduate Sam Bell has been rewarded with a new contract with the Robins.

The 18-year-old has signed a three-year deal, four months after making his first team debut.

It has been a breakthrough season for the forward, who made his first appearance off the bench against Birmingham City in December 2020 and started his first game against Stoke City on Good Friday.

Bell – son of former City player Micky – has impressed manager Nigel Pearson, who said: “Sam has the potential to be a very good player. What I like about him is he’s a bit of a smiling assassin, he enjoys succeeding on the pitch and he has the capacity to work hard at incredible intensity.

“It’s a shame he picked up an injury on his full debut but he’ll come back from that. For young players to go through a difficult experience with the team but still show positivity themselves is a good thing for them.”

City’s Player Pathway Manager Brian Tinnion added: “Sam is another of our young players who has the attitude and the ability to succeed and we are delighted that he has committed to his home club to continue his development.”
