🎥 Belief key for match-winner Wells

Nahki Wells says it was City’s “belief” which pulled them through a hard-fought win against QPR in West London.

The home side battled back after Chris Martin had given City the lead just before half-time and dominated the second half as Dan Bentley produced a number of key saves to keep the Robins level.

Wells then pounced against his former loan club, netting his first goal of the season with an injury-time winner to ensure City recorded a third consecutive away win, and a fourth game unbeaten in a row.

Wells told Robins TV: “We were under it a bit. The gaffer said something that was important to me, which was to be positive and stay up. That was the encouragement to go and get a winner which was important.

“I was able to go up and get a good ball from Andi Weimann, so I’m delighted and what a good time to score a goal!”

“Just believe,” was his reply when asked how the team kept going under difficult circumstances. We know what QPR are like, they’re a good side who want to go and get a winner. This is a hostile place but equally they’re vulnerable and we knew we could get them on the counter.

“We knew they concede goals, that was my mentality, that I had to be as positive as possible that if a chance came, I take it. Thankfully it dropped to me and I dispatched it.”
