Tyreeq Bakinson has revealed the benefit from playing alongside the experience in City’s squad.
It’s been a breakthrough campaign for the midfielder who has made 13 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring once, three years after making his Robins debut in the Carabao Cup.
“I feel like it’s been good personally and the team is doing well in the league, so it’s been a good start,” he told Robins TV ahead of Wednesday’s home Championship match against Blackburn Rovers (December 9th, 7.45pm KO).
“I just wanted to break into the team and see where it would take me, just do as well as I can. As a kid I wanted to go forward, score and win so it’s something I’ve always had but I’ve had to work on it as I’ve grown older as well.
“I feel I’m always trying to learn from the more experienced players like Ádám Nagy and Chris Brunt. It’s always good to see what they do, how they do it and try to implement it in my game.”
Bakinson would suffer from a period out of the team as Covid-19 made its impact felt at the club earlier in the season.
“I’m feeling good after a little tough time out but I’m happy to be back with the boys,” Bakinson said. “It was quite frustrating, but it was something you have to deal with in these times and now I’m happy to be back.”
He’s been busy preparing for City’s next opportunity which comes in the form of Tony Mowbray’s Rovers.
For the Robins, it’s a chance to respond after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Birmingham City in BS3.
Bakinson continued: “You always want to win the game so it’s important for us to try and bounce back, as we did last time against QPR. We want a run of wins and that has to start somewhere, so hopefully that can be against Blackburn Rovers.
“We know they’re a good team, it’ll be a tough test, they have some good players in the attacking areas and on the counter attack but hopefully we can deal with that.”
City v Blackburn will be streamed live on Robins TV to Season Card holders only, due to EFL broadcast regulations. This is because the match has been selected for live Sky Sports coverage, so no £10 matchday pass is available through Robins TV.
Season Card holders should have received a FREE streaming pass code emailed ahead of the November's televised fixture against Norwich City. Season Card holders will not have to enter their unique voucher code again as access to Sky TV home matches will automatically be granted once logged into Robins TV.
Season Card holders yet to activate their code will find it in their emails sent on Thursday, October 29th. If you are unable to locate it, please contact Supporterservices@bristol-sport.co.uk
