City have a chance to keep the pressure on the top-six chasers with a Tuesday night trip to Reading (January 28th, 8pm).
Lee Johnson's men head into the fixture off the back of three wins from their last four Sky Bet Championship fixtures and for centre-back Nathan Baker, that is breeding more confidence within the group.
The Robins sit ninth in the Championship, one point behind sixth-placed Preston North End, with competition from the likes of Swansea and Millwall among others sitting just behind City.
Baker said: "You can’t let it [the league position] affect you.
"We’re doing well in around the play-offs and it’s getting tighter and tighter with the top two even dropping a few points as well, so there are a lot of teams with a lot of chances. We will do what we can to keep in there."
The Robins head into the match 10 days since their last outing - a 1-0 win over Barnsley at Ashton Gate - to set them up in the best possible condition for the trip to the Madejski Stadium.
"Yes, it was good to get the rest and recovery in and recharge for the game against Reading," Baker continued. "We’ve been able to work on a few different things in training and hopefully we can show that against Reading.
"You take the positives [from the win against Barnsley] and the negatives but looking back at the Barnsley game we got a win and a clean sheet. We will look back on that and build on that. You obviously look at the negatives, where you can build on them too and hope to correct them ready for the next game against Reading."
