With the West Stand nearing completion there is speculation over what capacity will be allowed at Ashton Gate for the season opener against Wigan Athletic on Saturday, August 6th.
Following our extended members sale period for the Sky Bet Championship game, we have now reached capacity for our current safety certificate. Our primary duty of care is the safety of supporters attending the match.
As many of you will be aware the timetable for completion of the West Stand is tight and we won’t know our final capacity number for the Wigan game until after the Safety Advisory Group (SAG) has completed their scheduled inspection on Wednesday, August 3rd. The SAG issues the stadium’s safety license which allows it to operate.
If the SAG is satisfied with the handover of the West Stand, on Wednesday, we will be able to release further tickets for the opening game of the season under general sale, in line with the safety licensing process.
We appreciate this is a tight timetable, however we are in exceptional times as we embark on opening our ‘new’ £45million home.
We ask fans to bear with us through the coming week as final completion takes place and understand the timetables that we are working to.
