Ashton Gate Stadium has issued a statement, after a man pleaded guilty to a racially aggravated public order offence.
The courts did not impose a stadium ban but the supporter remains suspended from attending future matches.
Ashton Gate Managing Director Mark Kelly said: "We are surprised and disappointed by the court’s decision not to issue a full stadium banning order.
"Ashton Gate has a zero tolerance of this kind of behaviour and the supporter was immediately suspended from our stadium whilst the judicial process ran its course.
"A formal banning process from Ashton Gate is now underway and the supporter remains suspended until that takes effect."
Season Tickets for the 2022/23 campaign are selling at a record pace, with more than 9,000 supporters already committed.
