All about wins, not clean sheets - Fielding

Frank Fielding says he’s far more interested in getting victories rather than chalking up clean sheets.

City have now racked up six clean sheets this season, including shutouts in their last three outings.

However, Fielding insists his only desire is to see the team victorious at the end of 90 minutes.

Speaking on BCTV, Fielding said: “I’m pleased with the clean sheets, of course, but I’m much more interested in getting the W (win) next to the game in our fixture list.

“Steely (Luke Steele) did very well against Stoke when he came in and he’s settled with the group easily.

“The strength of our squad is coming to the fore at the moment; we’re going well in the league and we’re into the fourth round of the (Carabao) Cup. “

City will be hoping a fourth straight clean sheet at Ipswich Town tomorrow (3pm) will go some way to recording a first win at Portman Road since 1978.

Fielding added: “It will be a difficult game tomorrow. They’re a strong team, they made an unbelievable start and picked up a big win on Tuesday night (5-2 versus Sunderland).

“They’ve certainly got some firepower up front so we will need to be on our guard once more.

“We’re in confident mood right now but we don’t want to get that mixed up with complacency. It’s still only September…we’ll be judged in May.

“There’s a long way to go yet, with plenty more ups and downs to come – hopefully more ups.”
