Kieran Agard was delighted to be back amongst the goals as Bristol City stormed seven points clear of the play-off places in Sky Bet League One.
The striker was starting only his second game since the turn of the year against Peterborough United, and popped up with the crucial second goal soon after half-time in the 2-0 win.
Agard says the three-point haul, which moved them seven clear of Swindon Town in third place, was the most important matter to take care of last night.
The former Rotherham United front man told Bristol City Player: “After Saturday (the defeat to Sheffield United) we just wanted to get back out there
“We started both halves of the game well and scored early goals. I thought we showed good character and played fantastically well.
“I’m delighted to get the goal, but more importantly I was delighted we were able to take all three points.”
Agard’s last goal was the scrappy 90th minute winner against AFC Telford in the FA Cup back in December.
It was another close-range finish that put paid to Posh last night.
He added: “I was pleased to get the goal and thankful to the team for creating it for me.
“The keeper made a great save from Joe (Bryan) but he followed it up quickly and it made it simple for me to head in.
“When you get a goal, it’s a big confidence boost. You want another straight away and I’ll keep getting into those positions for the team.”
“I feel a lot sharper each time, even with each training session. I’m feeling good fitness-wise.”
