Abraham's Spot Of Improvisation

Tammy Abraham says his 25th goal of the season came courtesy of “on the spot improvisation”.

The on-loan Chelsea striker was on the scoresheet again as City drew 1-1 at Blackburn Rovers yesterday, rounding off a 31-pass move at Ewood Park.

Abraham turned the ball in with a clever flick from behind his body, after Jamie Paterson’s through ball spun awkwardly on the playing surface.

Recalling the key moment, Abraham told Bristol City Player HD: “It was a fantastic passing move that led to the goal. I was always on the move and waited for the right time to get the pass.

“Pato played me in and the ball bounced in a weird way. I had to improvise to use the outside of my right foot to put it in.

“It’s just variations of finishing really. If you want to score goals then you have to be prepared – this was a bit on the spot improvisation.”

Sam Gallagher’s 71st minute header ensured a share of the spoils in Lancashire, although City still maintain their four-point advantage over their hosts in the Sky Bet Championship table.

He added: “It’s a good point for us. We knew Blackburn would come out fighting in the second half; it was never going to be easy.

“Of course when you’ve been 1-0 up and you get pegged back to draw there are regrets. At the same time, we didn’t lose.

“We’re playing great football and we need to continue that for the final three games of the season.
“We just have to focus on what we’re doing.

“If we get all three points in each of our remaining games then we’ll be fine. We just have to keep fighting, showing everyone that we shouldn’t be down there.”

Abraham still has his sights set on the Championship Golden Boot – but his first aim is to ensure City are playing second tier football again next season.

The 19-year-old said: “It feels like everything has gone so fast this season. Everyone has helped me settle here, the fans have too – they’ve been brilliant.

“It’s hard to describe; I’m just happy to be here and to keep scoring. I just want to help keep the team in the division now and then my aim is to finish top scorer in the division.”
