Tammy Abraham has been named in the England Under-21 squad for the first time.
The 18-year-old’s sparkling form on loan at Ashton Gate, where he has already scored ten times, has prompted a promotion from the Under-20 group.
England Under-21s will be managed by Aidy Boothroyd for the next two games following Gareth Southgate’s step up to the senior squad and face Kazakhstan and Bosnia & Herzegovina next month.
The first game will be in Kazakhstan on Thursday, October 6th, followed by a home clash with Bosnia at Walsall’s Banks’s Stadium on Tuesday, October 11th.
Head coach Lee Johnson told bcfc.co.uk: “It’s fantastic for Tammy to move up to the Under-21s.
“Clearly England have been watching him closely and have seen his good performances for us.
“We wish him all the best when he links up with England next week.”
Abraham joined City in August on a season-long loan move from Chelsea, with no standard recall clause.
He is now the joint top scorer in the Sky Bet Championship after two months.
