In terms of crazy weeks, Korey Smith holds the trump card.
The midfielder became a dad for the first time, with baby Otis Alexander arriving just hours after manager Steve Cotterill had been relieved of his duties.
Twenty-four hours on he was skippering City to a first win in eight matches, as Wes Burns’ last-gasp header defeated the league leaders at Ashton Gate.
“It’s been quite a week!” Smith told Bristol City Player HD.
“I’ve been in hospital with (partner) Hattie since Wednesday morning, when she was induced. I’ve not really had much sleep or rest.
“It’s been incredible, apart from obviously the news that the gaffer had gone.
“I was actually in the hospital so I didn’t find out straight away. I didn’t see him because I wasn’t at the training ground but I have spoken to him since.
“I really appreciate everything he did for me and the club. It was sad but at the same time I was at the hospital with other emotions as my son was born. It’s been a crazy time.
“The result against Middlesbrough was a great way to end the week. I’m just so pleased for all the boys in the dressing room and the fans.
“It was nice to see a late goal go in the right net for us. I thought we were the better team, we created a lot of chances and deserved the win.”
