'A chance to showcase our talents' - McAllister

City head to Oakwell looking to keep the pressure on those in and around the promotion and play-off spots.

The Sky Sports cameras will be focused on the Championship fixture which is a chance for the Robins to showcase their talents to the wider football audience.

And they want to build on their last two games – a win and a draw at home to Charlton Athletic and Wigan Athletic, respectively - but the three points is the aim against Barnsley as they look for momentum at the top end of the division.

“We feel in the last couple of games we could have done a little bit more,” McAllister admitted but he also saw the Tykes concede a two-goal lead in their 2-2 draw versus West Brom last week.

“I think it will be a tough test on Friday against Barnsley, obviously we want to get back to winning ways,” he told Robins TV.

“They’re a good side, well organised, and I know we say that most weeks but the Championship is a tough division.

The assistant City head coach continued: “It’s our third game in a week so we’ve looked into that to make sure all the lads are rested and recovered properly and we can then see what options we have come Friday. The squad is getting stronger day-by-day; we’ve got key players returning from injury so that real competition is coming back now. The lads that have been in have been excellent, we’re on a great run and we just want to build on that come Friday.

“We’re live on Sky on Friday, it’s a chance for the lads to showcase their ability, skill and the quality we have. We want to put in a performance, but a winning performance. It’s important we get a win on the board and keep building the momentum we’ve got at the moment.

“We’re in a good place but we missed out on the chance to go second on Sunday and we want to be up there so Friday is another chance for us to get three points and kick on.”
