Ba (Hons) Sports Business And Entrepreneurship

Come and study with Bristol City Community Trust in 2019/20.

In partnership with the University of the West of England, Bristol City Community Trust has launched an innovative three-year BA (Hons) Sports Business and Entrepreneurship course.

Delivered at the newly-redeveloped Ashton Gate Stadium, students will have access to purpose-built classrooms and facilities, replicating a professional office environment.

This course is for self-driven individuals who want to learn by doing. Team Entrepreneurship is an innovative, practice-based degree that allows you to take control of your own learning so that you can graduate ready and able for your chosen future. Unlike traditional business degrees, you will be a part of a learning community, and work with others in real life ventures and challenges.

Students will learn in a practice-led environment, coached in teams and work together on projects while attending structured learning sessions such as boots camps and workshops. Students will be encouraged to read texts that support their learning to link theory with practice on projects that cover a number of disciplines – including event organisation, marketing, leadership and retail.

There are no lectures. Regular training sessions and workshops will be held with the team coach, module leaders and industry experts who will support and guide students’ team company, while mapping their learning journey in a contract that defines their path to personal mastery.

Students will have the opportunity to learn from and be inspired by the real-life experiences of professionals from a wide variety of sports backgrounds, including Bristol City, Bristol Bears, Bristol Flyers, Bristol Sport, as well as business and social entrepreneurs.

While keeping a typical working week based at the stadium, students will receive six hours of ‘team coaching’ per week over 36 weeks of the year. Students will be taught using team entrepreneurship methods, giving students the opportunity to build, grow and sustain their own project or venture while gaining a sports business degree.

Students will work in team companies of up to 20 members, with the potential to earn money  whilst gaining valuable entrepreneurial experience. Students will cover a variety of modules, alongside keeping office hours, attending training sessions with an experienced team coach, creative conversations with local professionals and academic workshops that support them to build the knowledge and expertise needed to develop their entrepreneurial potential.

This innovative course ensures students are confident, highly motivated, employable and resilient. It gives students valuable business skills and industry contact, so they can hit the ground running in their career.
