The company was founded in the summer of 1995 by current Managing Director, Michael Nolan, on Poplar Road, Bedminster Down in Bristol.
Since then, the organisation has grown exponentially, becoming one of the largest and most trusted insulation experts in the UK.
We provide our services across England and Wales from our bases in Bristol and Cardiff, often working along the M5 and M4 corridors, including in London.

What makes us unique?
There are many different environmental conditions, variables and factors that can determine the most effective way to approach insulation solutions.
Our team of specialists have been trusted by top brands for over 20 years, working on a diverse range of projects, from large new-build projects to small and complex, to those where specialist equipment and high levels of security clearance are necessary.
At Poplar Insulation, we are proud to provide:
- Over 20 years of experience
- A highly qualified and committed team
- An impeccable health & safety record
- Dedicated estimators and procurers
- Specialist and security-sensitive projects
- A comprehensive Environmental Policy
- Support to our local community
- The capacity to deliver major projects
What’s more, all our team are employees of Poplar Insulation, which is opposed to many national firms who sub-contract work to others. This minimises risk for our clients, who can trust that we will complete the work on time with our own assured resources. Furthermore, all our people have PASMA, IPAF and CSCS cards.
We are members of Thermal Insulation Contractors Association (TICA), a UK based non-profit Trade Association representing organisations involved in industrial Hot and Cold Insulation. TICA ensuring that we follow legislation in ‘The Pink Book’ to helping to improve standards of our employees. Membership of TICA is not easy, we are full members and fully vetted.
Capacity to look after clients across England, team always in London, across the M4 corridor, and up and down the M5, covering a vast area.
Many of our team have an airside pass, enabling us to take on projects at major airports throughout the UK.
Finally, we believe that our business has grown thanks to our level of service, dedication and commitment to ethical business.
The Importance of CSR
As a growing organisation, we feel that we have a responsibility to ensure that our business continues to conduct its operations in an ethical manner and supports the improvement of the environment and communities around us as we expand, ensuring that we improve our reach and ability to make positive change happen.
Many of our people have close, personal connections to some of causes we donate to, making Poplar Insulation a regular, committed supporter of Bristol Area Down Syndrome Support and the Cystic Fibrosis Comfort Fund (CFCF).
Conducting our business in an honest and ethical manner is one of our core values that derives from our beginning as a family business.
Environment and Sustainable Operations
Our industry is defined by our need to save energy and reduce carbon emissions. Therefore, our Poplar Environmental Policy continues to evolve as we work closely with manufacturers who help us to:
