Bristol City boss Keith Millen is urging fans to turn out in force to support marathon man Rob Cousins. Millen will send a strong City team to Paulton Rovers' Winterfield Road ground on Tuesday night to play in a testimonial for veteran midfielder Cousins, who last season played in his 1,000th senior match. Cousins, from Knowle, who is 40 this season, began his career as a trainee at Ashton Gate, making one first-team appearance. He then embarked on a non-league career with Bath City, Forest Green Rovers, Yeovil Town, Mangotsfield and Paulton, and is still going strong at Yate Town in his 22nd season.

John Akinde is hoping to hit the headlines for all the right reasons if he makes his Bristol Rovers debut at Oldham Athletic today. The big striker saw joy turn to despondency when he faced the Latics during a loan spell with Wycombe last season. Akinde put the Chairboys ahead with a ninth-minute goal - but was sent off for violent conduct 13 minutes later after a flare-up with Oldham skipper Sean Gregan. "Hopefully, I can score against them again - and not get sent off this time," said Akinde, who joined the Pirates on loan from Bristol City eight days ago. "What happened was silly - I pushed their lad in the face - but I was still a bit immature and you learn from your mistakes."
