TUESDAY'S PRESS TALK

Posted on: Tue 31 Aug 2010

Keith Millen is promising to work "morning, noon and night" in a bid to revive Bristol City's fortunes. Beaten in two of their opening four npower Championship fixtures and still without a win, the Robins are in the bottom three with just two points from a possible 12. A significant influx of new players and a series of injuries to key personnel have proved disruptive and City have conceded an alarming 12 goals in five games so far this season. Those defensive frailties are giving cause for concern among the management team and new boss Millen insisted there is still a good deal of work to be done before things can improve.

Bristol City want to take Tottenham youngster Danny Rose on loan to Ashton Gate. The 20-year-old winger made a name for himself last season with a stunning volleyed goal against bitter North London rivals Arsenal in a 2-1 win last season.

A number of clubs are chasing Rangers forward Kyle Lafferty. The Northern Ireland international's place in the Rangers side appears in doubt due to the recent arrivals of James Beattie and Nikica Jelavic. A trio of English clubs are thought to have been alerted to the situation and may now look to bring in the 22-year-old. Premier League new boys Blackpool and Championship duo Bristol City and Crystal Palace are the clubs in question as they all search for further reinforcements before the close of the transfer window.

Bristol City boss Keith Millen hopes to sign a left-sided player and a defender before the transfer window closes. Full-backs Jamie McAllister and Tom Williams are the only naturally left-sided players at Ashton Gate, with that particular imbalance within the squad not having been addressed since Michael McIndoe left to join Championship rivals Coventry 12 months ago.
