FRIDAY'S PRESS TALK

Posted on: Fri 04 Jun 2010

Bristol City are already seeing the benefits of Steve Coppell's appointment as manager. The Liverpudlian's appointment has galvanised supporters, many of whom are backing the new regime with hard cash. So far, fans have snapped up more than 10,000 season tickets for the 2010-11 Championship campaign and club officials expect sales to far exceed last season's figure of 11,600. Season tickets today went on general release for the first time and club officials are anticipating a further surge of interest from supporters eager to watch Coppell's side play next season.

Bristol City manager Steve Coppell reckons the 2010-11 Championship campaign will be one of the most competitive on record. The former Reading boss, named as Gary Johnson's replacement in April, told BBC Radio Bristol: "I look at the league and think it's so open. "I would say this is one of the tightest Championships for many years with no real clear-cut favourites."
