WEDNESDAY'S PRESS TALK

Posted on: Wed 05 May 2010

Evander Sno and Patrick Agyemang have played for Bristol City for the last time. City will delay naming their list of retained players until new manager Steve Coppell returns from holiday in the United States on Thursday. But the Post understands there is no place for either Sno or Agyemang in the 54-year-old Liverpudlian's plans for next season. Sno's season-long loan from Ajax ended after Sunday's final Championship fixture at Blackpool and the former Dutch Under-21 international midfielder has returned to his parent club, while striker Agyemang, signed on a short-term deal from Queens Park Rangers in January, has gone back to Loftus Road.

Manager Dave Mehew says claiming silverware at Ashton Gate tonight will be the perfect end to the season for Gloucester City. The Tigers travel to Bristol City in the final of the Gloucestershire Senior Cup for the second consecutive season, looking to avenge last year's 5-1 defeat. Mehew, who has seen his side follow up last season's promotion with a solid first campaign in Blue Square North, believes his side are better equipped to deal with the threat posed by the Championship club this year. "They beat us last year, but to be absolutely honest a lot of us still had headaches after the play-off win at Farnborough," said Mehew.

Dundee United wide man Jeno Myrie-Williams is determined to put his red-card nightmare behind him and clinch an Active Nation Scottish Cup final place. The former Bristol City player was ordered off in controversial circumstances against Celtic 10 days ago and he had to sit out the next match against Rangers because of suspension. Myrie-Williams is back in the fold for United's final away league game of the season tonight against Hearts at Tynecastle and, after fearing he may have blown his chance of making it to the May 15 showpiece against Ross County, the Englishman is raring to go. "I now have two games to try and win a place in the final team," he said.

Actor Russell Crowe has revealed that he follows two non-Premier League teams in England. Russell, who is also a massive rugby league, union and cricket fan, says: "I have two English teams - Leeds United and Bristol City. "I started following Leeds in the early Seventies and Bristol after meeting a friend in the late Eighties who loves them. Both teams can be heartbreakers, but that's the joy of sport."
