SATURDAY'S PRESS TALK

MANAGER TALK

Several managers have been linked with the vacant manager's job at Ashton Gate, and in the Press Talk section, bcfc.co.uk will track all those rumours. It should be noted that publication in this section is only a reflection of what is published in the media, and not the view of the club.

Round-up: The Bristol Evening Post say City have chosen Steve Coppell and Keith Millen as their dream team. However, they can't decide whether Coppell will come in as a director of football or manager. Link below.

Steve Coppell and Keith Millen will be charged with the task of masterminding Bristol City's bid for Premier League status. Former Manchester United and England star Coppell will next week be appointed as successor to Gary Johnson, who departed Ashton Gate by mutual consent last month. Johnson's loyal assistant for the past four-and-a-half years, Millen has been told by City chairman Steve Lansdown he definitely has a role to play in any new management structure. Although their future titles are as yet unknown, Coppell and Millen will work side by side, either as director of football and first-team coach or in a more conventional manager/assistant partnership. Placed in temporary charge following Johnson's exit, Millen has inspired a six-match unbeaten run which has put City in with an outside chance of making the play-offs.

OTHER NEWS

Ivan Spoule is set to replace Jamal Campbell-Ryce for Bristol City's trip to face Scunthorpe United on Saturday. Campbell-Ryce limped out of last Saturday's 1-0 home win over Swansea just after the hour mark with a hamstring injury and will not travel to Glanford Park. Keith Millen's Robins are looking to extend their six-match unbeaten run which has seen them move to within six points of the play-off places.
Clubcall

Bristol City caretaker manager Keith Millen has spoken of the importance of Saturday's game at Scunthorpe as they chase a play-off place. Millen's future at the club remains uncertain, but if this fixture is to be his last in charge then he is aiming to bow out in style. A win could keep City's slender chances of making the play-offs alive. He said: "I was told to take the team up until the Scunthorpe game and that's exactly what I'll concentrate on doing."
Teamtalk

Scunthorpe pair Marcus Williams and midfielder Sam Togwell are in line to return against Bristol City on Saturday. The duo returned to training during the week after returning from injury and could be included in the squad to face Bristol City.
