Bristol City caretaker boss Keith Millen has hinted that the search for a permanent successor to Gary Johnson is close to a conclusion. City chairman Steve Lansdown has been conducting interviews with a number of shortlisted candidates in recent days and is expected to make an announcement on the unresolved situation next week. Millen yesterday revealed that he has not formally applied for the vacant position - but insisted that he was unaware whether or not tomorrow's game at Scunthorpe is to be his last in temporary charge. Lansdown, however, is understood to be keen on finalising a permanent appointment ahead of the clash with Derby at Ashton Gate next weekend to allow any new manager the opportunity of two games to assess the squad at his disposal ahead of the summer break. Millen said: "There is no deadline (to make an appointment) but it would be good for whoever takes over to see the players for the last couple of games of the season."

Bristol City's caretaker manager Keith Millen says the club is under no pressure to appoint a new boss. Millen has already been told he is in charge at least until Saturday's game against Scunthorpe as the club searches for Gary Johnson's replacement. "There is no pressure, no panic to get someone in for Scunthorpe or get someone in for Derby. Things are going well," Millen said.

Bristol City's caretaker boss Keith Millen insists the club are under no pressure to appoint Gary Johnson's successor at Ashton Gate. Millen will again take charge of the side when Bristol City take on Scunthorpe on Saturday and he has already stated he is keen on taking the job on permanently, although he is yet to formally apply for the vacancy. The likes of former Reading boss Steve Coppell and Alan Curbishley, whose CV includes spells with Charlton and West Ham, have been linked with the manager's job at Ashton Gate but Millen claims the club are in no hurry to make a permanent appointment.
