MONDAY'S PRESS TALK

Posted on: Mon 01 Mar 2010

Bristol City boss Gary Johnson could afford to be in jovial mood when he met the media after this hard-fought draw. "If you were a gambling man you could have bet a million pounds on 0-0, because Ipswich have drawn a lot of games. But if you won a million you would have had to give half of it to Dean Gerken," said the Londoner.

Gareth McAuley admitted being baffled and frustrated by Ipswich Town's stalemate against Bristol City. The Blues had to settle for a 0-0 draw at Portman Road on Saturday. But it would have been a different story had they converted one of numerous second-half chances to breach inspired goalkeeper Dean Gerken.

Dean Gerken seems to raise his game, whenever he plays Ipswich Town. And the ex-Colchester United custodian was the main reason why Bristol City escaped from Portman Road with a point, following a man-of-the-match display in Saturday's 0-0 draw.

Bristol City could be without key midfielder Marvin Elliott for six weeks with a knee injury. The former Millwall man missed Saturday's 0-0 draw at Ipswich and will see a specialist today. Manager Gary Johnson believes Elliott may have torn a ligament, although he is hopeful he will not need surgery.
