Recalled Scotland striker Chris Iwelumo insists he retains the desire to become a Premier League regular, having battled for almost a decade to get there. The targetman has made no bones about his hunger play at the highest level for his parent club Wolves, but knows only good displays and goals while on loan at Bristol City will help him to do so. Iwelumo has been sent to the Championship club in order to regain full match sharpness after almost a year out injured. Having helped Wolves win promotion last term, the former Stoke man broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot in pre-season and then snapped the bone again in October. He looks well on the way to his aim, having scored his first goal for City in Sunday's 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion - a strike that also helped earn selection for the Scotland squad yesterday. "I have been trying to get to the Premier League for the last eight years and it was just disappointing to break it when I did," said the 31-year-old. "I came back three-and-a-half weeks early and I snapped it against Stoke and reopened it again. But this time it was six weeks without doing anything. I am here just for a month. The aim is to play some games. As for the future, I couldn't tell you. We will address it later in the month."

Bristol City boss Gary Johnson hailed the Robins' performance after they defeated promotion chasing West Brom on Sunday. West Brom had taken an early lead thanks to Graham Dorrans first half strike but two goals in less than five minutes from Chris Iwelumo and Lee Johnson, the managers son, in the second-half ensured City got back to winning ways. The Bristol boss was delighted his side emerged with all three points and believes the victory over the Baggies could be just what the Robins need to get their season back on track. He said: "We needed a win over quality opposition to restore self-belief, and that's exactly what we got. Hopefully, this can be a really big result for us and we can start looking up the table again rather than over our shoulders."

Chris Iwelumo has insisted that he is concentrating on performing well for Bristol City and not thinking about his future with Wolves. The Scotland international joined the Robins on a month-long deal earlier in February and netted his first goal for the Championship club in Sunday's 2-1 victory over West Brom. Iwelumo is due to return to Molineux in mid-March and could then play a part in Wolves' battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League. However, the 31-year-old forward maintains that he is focusing solely on doing his best for Bristol City and getting back into peak condition after an injury-plagued campaign. He is not sure what will happen at the end of his loan spell, saying: "I am here for a month. I just want to get some games under my belt and we'll see where I go from there."

Striker Chris Iwelumo, who is on loan at Bristol City, says he could still have a role for Wolves this season after getting off the mark. welumo scored his first goal for the Robins since his loan move from Wolves, with Lee Johnson popping up four minutes later as City beat West Brom 2-1 last weekend. Iwelumo said: "I am here for a month. I just want to get some games under my belt and we'll see where I go from there. I couldn't tell you what will happen. I just want to play games and we will address it at the end of the month. I am keeping my head down, getting my match fitness and getting games under my belt and hopefully I will get some goals as we go along."

Wolves striker Chris Iwelumo could still play a part in the Premier League campaign after breaking his 11-month goal duck for Bristol City against Albion. The Scotland international struck his first goal since last March to help his loan club defeat the Baggies 2-1 at Ashton Gate. Iwelumo, who has been cursed by injuries in recent months, has hinted at a return to Molineux to battle for a place once his initial month's loan with the Robins ends in early March. He said: "I am here for a month. I just want to get some games under my belt and we'll see where I go from there. I couldn't tell you what will happen. I just want to play games and we will address it at the end of the month."

Bristol City hero Chris Iwelumo has hailed Albion goalscorer Graham Dorrans as a 'special talent' after locking horns with his fellow Scot for the first time. Baggies' players refused to speak after the defeat, leaving on-loan Wolves striker Iwelumo to deliver his verdict on the game and his fellow Scotland international. The game was his first glimpse of Dorrans in the flesh, and was left impressed with the Albion playmaker despite City ending the day as victors. He said: "Graham is a special talent. He is 22 or 23 and he is an outstanding player. I never really knew a lot about him and I have not got into any of the Scotland squads he was in because of my injury. But he is a fantastic talent."
