Bristol City manager Gary Johnson has admitted he and his players are feeling the pressure of having won only twice in 17 games. And he said he faces a difficult job if he is to restore lost confidence and halt a slide which has seen the Robins drop out of play-off contention and plummet to 15th in the Coca-Cola Championship table since the turn of the year. Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Sheffield United, City's second reverse on the road in the space of four days, leaves Johnson and his charges looking anxiously over their shoulders at the drop zone. City remain five points clear of third-from-bottom Reading, but a meagre return of two draws and one goal from the last five outings is giving cause for concern and promoting fears that the remainder of the season could be spent battling relegation. "We're all feeling the pressure," said Johnson, who saw his side go down to second-half goals from Henri Camara and Darius Henderson at Bramall Lane.

An experienced Championship campaigner, Chris Iwelumo acknowledges the growing importance of the next win for Bristol City. And the emergency loan signing from Wolves insists he will do everything in his power to instigate a turnaround in fortunes during his time at Ashton Gate. Unaffected by the confidence-sapping downward spiral which is causing so many of City players to relinquish form and abandon belief, the 31-year-old Scot believes his new team-mates can improve upon a depressing record of two wins in 17 games to avert any further slide into the relegation mire. Although City have not won a Championship encounter in five attempts since Preston were beaten at Ashton Gate in mid-January, and have slipped to 15th in the table, Iwelumo is prepared to accentuate the positives and offer much-needed reassurance. Speaking in the aftermath of a debut which failed to go to plan, the Scotland international striker said: "I've been keeping tabs on the Championship and I know what is going on at Bristol City."

Bristol City boss Gary Johnson will put his faith in tried and trusted options between now and the end of the season. Given that a play-off push and a protracted fight against relegation remain equally likely scenarios at this point in time, the manager is in no position to experiment or blood youngsters. With that in mind, he has farmed out many of the club's up-and-coming players to lower league clubs and recalled experienced Championship campaigner Lee Johnson. And Johnson junior, who spent a successful month on loan at Derby County in January, is back at Ashton Gate for the foreseeable future. Despite sources in the Midlands taking a contrary line and predicting an extended stay at Pride Park for the diminutive midfielder, City's manager insisted: "It was only ever going to be for a month."

Gary Johnson believes his Bristol City squad are too busy blaming each other for their current poor run rather than taking individual responsibilty. Manager Johnson, above, saw his side outplayed by Sheffield United and said: "You can't win games when you create few chances. The boys need to look at themselves and start bringing out their best game."

Wolves chief Jez Moxey insists Chris Iwelumo has a future at Molineux. The Scotland international has joined Bristol City on an emergency loan. Moxey said: "It's purely to give Chris some games. They need a striker and we have a good working relationship with Bristol City."
